A local man has been convicted and sentenced to 12 months in prison for having a knife in a public place and stealing spirits worth £138 from a supermarket. Ryan Barrett, 28, of no fixed address, had previously indicated a plea of guilty to being in possession of a knife in a public place, at Bohemia Road, St Leonards, on July 20. While executing a drugs warrant in West View, Hastings, in October last year police seized quantities of cannabis, cocaine and cash which led to 19-year-old occupant Jake Wallace being charged with possessing class A and B drugs with intent to supply. On 12 June Wallace, unemployed, appeared at Lewes Crown Court and admitted the offences. He was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £140. Convicted drug dealer Allan Finn from Westfield, near Hastings, has started a six-year sentence for his crimes following a two-day trial at Lewes Crown Court. Finn, 32, a window cleaner, had denied being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and cannabis but on Wednesday 12 June he was found guilty. He was sentenced to six years for the cocaine offence and three years for the cannabis offence, to run concurrently. A prolific thief who stole items including face masks, clothing and an Easter egg has been jailed. Scott Starr has been convicted of three separate incidents which occurred in Hastings since the beginning of the year. On 7 January, he was captured on CCTV stealing four grey coats from Debenhams in Robertson Street. On 17 April, he was captured on CCTV stealing face masks from The Body Shop in Station Road. UEFA Nations League Finals On Thursday 6th and Sunday 9th June 2019 – England are playing in the finals of a ‘smalll’ football tournament in Portugal – the UEFA Nations League finals.  England could (in theory) end up winning some silverware and no doubt there will be some interest with the matches being shown in a number of venues.
