Shop and pub staff asked to report misuse of Vanilla credit cards

Police are keen to hear from shops or pubs in the area who may have been defrauded by the use of invalid Vanilla Mastercards. Officers know of four incidents so far. On 1 February two men used an invalid card for a meal worth over £100 at a pub in Chichester. Prolific shoplifter John Larkin jailed and issued with two-year criminal behaviour order

Prolific St Leonards-on-Sea shoplifter John Nicholas William Larkin has been jailed for 180 days – six months – and made the subject of a criminal behaviour order for two years. Larkin has been the subject of numerous Hastings BCRP Shopwatch exclusion notices following his activities in town and as a result is already banned from all member premises. Sentence was imposed by Hastings magistrates after Larkin, aged 32, unemployed, of Willingdon Way, St Leonards-on-Sea, appeared before them and they heard how he threatened shop staff with needles infected with Hepatitis B if they approached him. Joel Elmslie pleads guilty to shoplifting charges

Joel Elmslie, 38, of Berlin Road, Hastings, indicated a plea of guilty to stealing a North Face gilet, worth £140 from Millets in Hastings on November 18 and a jacket, worth £140, from the same store on November 17 last year. He admitted the offences when he appeared at Hastings Magistrates Court on December 19. The court made a community order with a requirement of 40 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £340 in compensation. Concern for missing Seaford boy Mekhi Smith

Police are concerned for missing 12-year-old Mex Luka Smith from Seaford. Known as Mekhi, he was last seen in the Seaford at 10am on Monday (21 January). It is believed he may in the Seaford, Hastings or Brighton areas. Court order prevents Ryan Etherton stealing from shops across Hastings and Rother

A Hastings man convicted of regular thefts from shops has been handed a court order banning him from entering shops across Hastings and Rother. At Brighton Magistrates Court on 4 January, Ryan Etherton, 42, of Willingdon Way, Hastings was given a sixteen week prison sentence, of which the magistrates have required him to serve four weeks in custody, having been found guilty of five shop lifting incidents at stores in which he stole goods, mostly meat and alcohol, worth almost £2,000. Police in Hastings have offered a £1,000 reward in the search for a wanted man. Officers are looking for 27-year old Kane Watson who they want to interview about allegations of several assaults, and of controlling and coercive behaviour, against a woman known to him.
